is it anyone's experience here that the I-797 is used for approvals or is it used for other things as well?

thanks in advance!

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

It is a notice of action. For instance many people just received one indicating their petitions were transferred from California to Texas. They'll use it to tell you they need something else, a transfer, a denial or an approval. (or anything else they want to notify you about)

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

ok :( i was hoping that was the answer i would not get :P

so those of us who were just transferred will be told same thing when we call USCIS "we've mailed you an I-797, just follow the instructions... blah blah blah" same as the NOA1 (they said same thing even though there were no instructions to follow, unless "wait for a decision" counts)

thanks for quick response!
