Ok sounds like its good I started asking questions. The devil is in the details once again! One thing that caught my eye was the chicken pox vericella vaccine. Nich says they don't even offer it in the UK so by that meaning someone in the UK can't get 100% of the vaccines required for the AOS? The simple reading of that says to me that most UK folks still has to get at least one vaccine in the US after coming over and getting married. I hope I'm wrong about that because it would be nice to have 100% of vaccines done before traveling. If not, its not a huge problem but again, I'm hoping we can do all possible and have the vaccines and documentation all complete for the AOS.

I don't think Varicella is routinely given to UK kids and NHS probably can't give you that. Knightsbridge may actually have a supply of the vaccine because of dealing with immigrants to the US. All of this is not confirmed by actually calling them to inquire.

Coffee if you read it again....Varicella = chickenpox. If you had chickenpox, then you are immune and are excused from the varicella/chickenpox shot. The form is marked VH meaning Varicella history....meaning this person had chickenpox and gets a waiver on this shot. It seems like most UK people I have run across did indeed have chickenpox as a child. BUT if they did not, then they will have to get a varicella shot and I'm not sure if it can be found in the UK or not. Why don't you check it out and get back to us. I'm going shopping since the afternoon is warm and sunny. :D

Oh, and Coffee....since your fiance's medical has already gone to the embassy, whatever is done is done. No use getting anything else now just to avoid a civil surgeon in the US. It must all be on that paper when it goes to the embassy. But your fiance can get her copy and see if she has everything on it. Maybe so, but it's too late to add anything to her official DS-3025 form now. If anything needs to be added, it will have to be written up by a civil surgeon, even is she went tomorrow and got something else at NHS. If everything we've discussed is on the DS-3025 form that went to the embassy, then she could use that for proof of her immunizations and send it with her AOS instead of the I-693.

 Indeed! The devil is in the details. But being from an English speaking nation, this group ought to have an advantage in understanding the details. I so admire the ladies from other countries who work so hard to wade through this immigration process barely understanding the language. Must be very stressful.

And remember, it's just a little shortcut option and by no means mandatory. Let's hope it doesn't become more of the "chatter" where people start telling the newbies they MUST get it done because they read it somewhere. OPTIONAL

You can satisfy varicella by having had chickenpox in the past. Most of the time they will just take your word for it.

Leigh-- the NVC is the "handoff" place from USCIS to the Dept of State who is over consulates. They will assign you a new case number starting with LND (for London) then send it out. You' re done with USCIS at that point and are dealing with DOS until the visa is issued.

If you haven't found the UK Wiki articles, they are here http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/K-1_and_IR-1/CR-1_-_UK_Specific_InformationSeveral links and lots of good tips.

Proud of your son too. God bless him.

Hi. Thanks so much for the link. The contact number for the Embassy from the UK is wrong in this information. The number is 09042 45100 - not 45010, as stated! I just called them and a very helpful chap told me that the Embassy have had our petition since 20 October, but have my address details wrong. I had moved in September and we notified USCIS and had an acknowledgement, but still my file hasn't been updated. Anyway, he gave me my LDN case number and the email code so I have contacted them to make sure they have my correct address.

The email code I got for today (20 November) is:

CIU749PR

I don't know when it is due to change though.

I think now that I have my case ID, I can go ahead and make an appointment for my medical. Is this correct?

A little progress has been made and I'm very excited! Thanks everyone, and good luck!

Leigh xx
