I am still confused with this whole process. I thought we would send i864 first, then send DS230. NVC sent me a checklist that we are missing DS230. I can have the applicant start working on DS230 so we can mail that in but does he have to obtain police report now as part of the civil document or does he try to obtain police report later when consulate calls him for the interview

Please help!!!!!!!!!

must have asked a very difficult and confusing question

Send it all in. You can go on the website, it will have the bill to be paid, if you have paid it then you can print the barcode cover sheet, attach it to the 864 and send it. Same goes with 230, complete it, attach all required documents, that includes the Police Certificate, original birth certificate, original marriage certificate, and send it ASAP.

The Police certificate is valid for up to 3 months, so hopefully you will get interview scheduled within that time and you can take the same one with you - otherwise you can always request a second one.
