Somehow in the midst of all the overwhelming paperwork, evidence and stress of the application, I accidently put my fiance's birthday as 2/16/2010. He is younger than me, BUT NOT THAT YOUNG!!! :) Lucky for me, a simple phone call took care of the error. I'm sure that won't be the only bump in the road, but at least it was taken care of quickly and simply. And I must say, they were very helpful and kind on the phone. Do not hesitate to call if you have questions. Everyone I spoke to was very helpful and polite. (a little unheard of for customer service reps here in the states)

On a less humorous note, our application was forwarded to California. I've heard it's much slower there. Oh well, as long as we are approved, it will be worth the wait.

I am a bit frustrated that our application isn't on the USCIS website yet. When I called they said it was in the system. I guess that's all that really matters. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

Now it's time to get everything for the I-134 ready. Hopefully I'll make sure all the dates are correct on that.

Good luck to everyone on their journey. The wait is hard but the thought of being with Colin forever is worth every sleepless night.

Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely keep it in mind -- might come in handy when I realize I did something wrong (again!). :)

BTW how did you find out about the error? Did you just realize it after sending?

Good luck! :)

When I got the NAO1 hard copy I looked at it and thought they screwed up, then I looked at my paperwork and realized it was me. Luckily, Colin's birth certificate and passport were attached as proof of his birthday. Once again.. the more evidence, the better.

Yes, I did sit on hold for 20 minutes. But the process of getting it changed was so simple. And I was so so thankful! I guess I just wanted everyone to know, mistakes are made, but they can be fixed without starting all over.

So you have the NOA1 and the receipt number doesn't work on the USCIS site? You did include the full number, including the WAC part, right?

If it still doesn't work, I wouldn't freak out too much. I've heard of other people here whose cases never showed up on uscis.gov. That system isn't 100% reliable anyway.

Oh and did USCIS actually send the NOA1 with the 2010 birthday? Lololol

I did include the entire number including WAC and it doesnt show up. The USCIS didnt seem to worried about it. And since they seemed to find it in their system when I wanted to change his birthdate, I'm not real worried either.

Yes, it did actually say 2/16/2010 on the hard copy!!! I'm laughing about it now. I'm definitely saving it. I've always been teased because Colin is younger. My friends will get a real kick out of this.

Maybe give it a few more days, as the number was probably just created. As long as they pull it up on their end, you've got nothing to be worried about. There was a person here awhile back who was freaking out about his number not working online and assuming his petition had gotten thrown in the trash or something.

I wonder what the USCIS employee was thinking when they entered the 2010 birthday!!!!

All it took was a simple phone call. No need to freak out. This is most likely the most stressful thing many of us have gone through. If we can't laugh about the little things, we'll never survive to the end.

And yeah, what were they thinking? Or how closely do they even look at the very beginning?? hmmmmmmm

I know, whoever it was refused to believe that because the case number didn't work on uscis.gov, that his file had been forgotten. I'm pretty sure the USCIS reps were able to see his file, though. I think some people just aren't "all there" and because this can be confusing, they freak out about everything. Seriously, you will learn to take people here with a grain of salt because there's some real weird cats here.

It's good you have a good attitude about it going in...it's too long and stressful by default to get insane over.

The way I look at it is that I feel incredibly lucky to have even met Colin. The fact that he is 4000 miles away just puts a wrinkle in things. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. And I want that life together to have started 6 months ago. But that isn't possible. So, we are doing everything we can to be together. We file, we pay, we wait. In the meantime, we call, email and chat via msn. Yes, this waiting is horrible. But we will have the rest of our lives to look back at this time apart and appreciate our time together even more. In the grand scheme of things 8-12 months is nothing compared to a lifetime without him. Freaking out isn't going to help. And if the visa doesnt work, we go to plan B. We wait until my kids are grown and I move to the UK in about 10 years. Hopefully that won't happen. But when you really really love someone, you make it work. It is what it is.
