Hello,

Does anyone know or have experience with which type of Canadian police certificates the US Consulate requires for a K-3 visa interview? I know the certificate must be issued by the Royal CAD Mountain Police but there are two types:

(a)Finger print based, which can take many months

(b)Name-check, takes about 2 weeks

The RCMP office is adamant (b) would be perfectly acceptable by a US consular for a K-3 visa, indeed rejecting to get my spouse's finger prints. My spouse has been a perm resident of Canada for the last 3 years..

Thanks in advance.

For the K-1 if you live in Canada all you require is the name check. I was actually able to wait for mine when I went in person to request it. I suspect the 2 weeks is if you mail it. I don't know if it is the same for the K-3 or not, but would suspect so.

if you do not have a criminal record, just the name check is needed. Depending where in Canada you live will depend on where to get it and how long it'll take.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
