I Cant get anyone to answer the phone or reply to my emails. Anybody have experience with this consulate? Im a little worried about my passport.

I have delt with the SF VN consulate several times and have had a good experince. But I always deal them in person and never do I send my passport to anyone. Its strange that they dont answer the phone though. They have been good about that in the past. Maybe try a different number. Good Luck!

I always use US Tours in Oakland. They drive to the VN Consulate in SF every day to drop off and pick up passports. I always get mine back within a week. I've never had my passport sent there by courier.

Dont worry. My husband has the same problem. It seems that you and him sent out the app. the same day. We still dont have his visa exemption yet. I called to them and the officer explained that it takes 1 month coz they need the verification of marriage from Vietnam. Try to be patient when you call them. If you hurry to go back to Vietnam, apply for a tourist visa. Make sure to let them know that you are applying for visa exemption, your passport number so that they can transfer your passport to visa section.

P.S: In case you dont know the extension of the officer who is in charge of visa exemption app. It is 415-922-1707 ext 108. Try to be patient. He doesnt answer the phone right away.

The visa exemption of my husband was approved this morning. It took almost 4 business weeks. Finally its done pheeewwww. Maybe it takes that long for couples who get married in Vietnam coz my friends who get married in the US, it just takes them 7 business days to get visa exemption.
