Affidavit from myself??

Hi all,

Very close now to filing our I-130. I (the non USC) have written an affidavit to accompany our 2 affidavits written by family members. I have included exactly how we met and the events leading upto our marriage. I am just wondering, are we allowed to include this? Is it a good idea to include as our relationship certainly has not been the norm (Wife had leukemia etc etc) and it gives the full story of our relationship. (It is 5 pages but I couldn't really make it smaller)

I think you can include anything that isnt 'dodgy' if you think it'll help you prove a bonafide ongoing marriage.

To be honest all we sent (not my decision) I think, was

2 wedding photos, marriage cert, divorce cert, bank statement, and the payment - which was payable by both of us.

Also, we have used yahoo messenger as our main means of communication. As it stands right now, we would be sending about 40 pages worth of conversations transcripts. Is this too much to be including with the I-130?

After that poor dudes I-130 denial today, has made me think twice about all this.

my opinion? wedding photos, other photos - maybe half a dozen, joint bank account, i think 40 may be too much, but thats just my opinion, mybe you can half it. replace it with a couple of friend / family affidavits. saves on the paperwork to go through, yet just as effective.

Affidavits from friends and family are nice but don't carry a lot of weight. Who would send an affidavit that wasn't glowing? It's similar to giving co-worker references. Have you ever given the name of a person that wouldn't give a great boost?

An affidavit from yourself giving the development of the relationship is beneficial. Along with other supporting evidence it paints a full picture. Having others say how much you love each other isn't the point. What objective evidence can you give to a bona fide relationship from meeting to the present? That's what you want to show.

are they not legally binding in the US?

well we are including my copies of boarding passes, and photos of us, copies of cards we've exchanged, copies of my US entry passport stamps etc,

Trying to include a variety of evidence, but not anything excessive

Nothing is excessive if you end up obtaining the visa.

When evaluating the worth of any evidence try to look at it as a dispassionate CO would. They aren't in love with your fiance(e)/spouse. They just want to make the right decision and be able to back it up. If something would be convincing go ahead an include it.

Just remember that the decision isn't predicated on the weight of the submission. A well documented relationship is persuasive. It sounds like you are going about your prep in a prudent manner. Best of luck.
