Hello all,

I live in Miami and need to know if it is possible to Notarize a document to be used in Colombia. The document is for my wifes son permission to travel here to the US and we need it ASAP.

From the US to colombia? Usally takes a few days even DHL or USPS or even Fedex. Usually this doc is sent to the NVC. Or is the other oparent in the US? Can u explain a little more? I brought 2 boys from Colombia 2 1/2 years ago.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I'm not exactly sure about the requirements of a letter like that (notarized, apostilled, etc.) but since you live in Miami, maybe you could go to the Colombian consulate there and execute a document that meets all of the legal requirements for Colombia? Just an idea...

Getting it there quickly could still be an issue... Overnight to Colombia can be difficult. I paid for 2-day delivery a couple of weeks ago but it took 5.:huh:

N-400

I second ryna's suggestion of going to the Colombian Consulate in Miami to have it notarized with their Colombian seals and signatures. Also, find out from the DAS in Colombia if they need a specific document to be filled out, not just a regular letter. NArocks should be able to help you with that.

If you get it notarized by a regular US notary, you will also have to get it apostilled because in Colombia a regular US notary seal is not valid without the apostille, so that's why getting it done at the Colombian Consulate makes more sense.

If the documents were just for embassy related issues, then no, you won't need an apostille because the US does not require them. Colombia however, does require them.
