Interview Dates?

Hi everyone,

Just trying to clear up a bit of confusion for me. Although I am not at this stage yet, I was wondering who schedules the interviews...NVC or the Consulate? (for me specifically Lagos).

I have read that the K-1s get their date from the consulate, but from reading VJ and the travel.state website, I thought NVC scheduled the CR1/IR1s, until tonight when another member stated the consulate made the interview dates and it never comes from NVC. So which is it?

This is what I read on the travel.state website: Here and

Here

Thanks in advance...

my case was closed at NVC on the 20th and was told that they are waiting for the consulate in Nigeria to give them a date for my Husband's interview... so i think the consulate schedules your interview.....

I think were the confusion lies is that since everyone who files for CR-1/IR1 deals for the most part with the NVC they believe that the NVC is the one that schedule there interview dates when in actuality it is the consulate telling the NVC this is the date this particular person will have there interview the NVC then sends the CR-1/IR-1 there interview date which is closer than a K-1 visa. so it looks as if the NVC are scheduling your dates meaning the CR-1 people. And it looks as if the consulate is scheduling the K-1 since we email them and they send us a date which could be 4months out. I hope you understand what I am saying. so really in my eyes the consulate is scheduling both but the NVC communicates with the consulate for Cr-1 people and let them know case is closed and you need a date whereas K-1 people we email them once our case has reached the embassy because we still have forms we need to download and take with us to the interview. I hope this makes since. Good luck!!!

Only diviance is that NVC Supvr said for the CR-1, they are provided a block of available dates for interviews, usually for the following interview month and NVC then schedules according to the cases closed in order and forwards your packet to US Embassy.

Thanks Rod. So in essence both NVC and the consulate schedules...NVC based on the number of cases closed and dates given by the consulate?
