For the interview at the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, did you to take the original documents or do they except the certified copies (Birth Certificate, Police Records, Marriage License)?

All originals or certified copies + common copy of each.

I'll leave a tip on the photographs: follow the instructions EXACTLY as the guide says. Many people were asked to go outside the embassy and take a new one due to errors. Both of your ears MUST be showing, so if you got long hair, pull it back all the way! Right size is important too, and is listed there.
