hey guys, so im really worried about the NBI clearance i sent to my hubby earlier (which after he receives it in like 2 days he's going to send it to NVC along with my other ds-230 documents). I was married before, got annulled and now married to my hubby (USC), so the NBI clearance that i sent was on my current name (husbands last name, my maiden name, first name). My question is do NVC needs to see an NBI clearance with an annotation "A.K.A. (also known as) from my previous married name? Should i tell my hubby not to send the docs to NVC yet and get another NBI clearance with A.K.A. annotation? or the one that i sent is fine? Im wondering if my hubby could just send that, and i'll just show the new NBI clearance with the annotation during the interview. PLs help..

Sent you a note. :)

The correct thing to do since you were previously married is to send one NBI certificate with AKA notation.

However, one of my friends here, chris_gerlie was able to send 3 NBI clearances, each in her:

- single name (as it appears on her birth certificate)

- previously married name

- current married name

NVC accepted all three certificates, no problem...Of course she did spend Php 345 for that (Php 115 x 3 certificates).

Better to get just one certificate with the correct info on it. :)

You could go ahead and ask your husband to send it to NVC (you could just insert a note saying you are securing the correct NBI Certificate), but have the correct one ready to send to your husband since an RFE is likely...or you could wait till you get the right certificate and send it to him...either way there is going to be a delay...just up to you what you can live with.
