Despite what the website says, if you go to the Immigration Dept. in person to do it your cost is going to be 3000.00 PHP. They will charge you for "EXPRESS LANE FEE' and other items which always came to about 3000 php both times I extended my visa there. It will this time also as I am leaving to spend another 30 days with my wife (L) while we wait on NVC.

I didn't know that was possible... If you can have somebody else do it for you, so that you don't have to be there in person, it can be worthwhile in some cases. Example: 3+ hours each way on a bus to get to the nearest city with an immigration office. That's a whole day of the trip spent extending the visa. Sure, you can make a day out of it by going to the mall or something, but it can still be quite a hassle.

I should find out about this for the next time I'm there for more than 21 days. :)

In the Philippines, anything is possible!

There are express lane fees/expedite fees for just about everything. Your imagination is the limit.

Yes, it is a case-to-case basis. Your time spent on a bus/van/taxi for 6 hours may be worth more to you than P3,000. It is...all a matter of perspective.

The Fixxors will FIX it for ya! What is the price of falling in line for 3.5 hours, rather than spending that time with your young wife as you please (preferably in the AC somewhere with minimal clothes on, rather than standing under the hot tropical sun hating it?!)

I've heard bad things about fixers. If a travel agency can handle it without me having to visit the immigration office at all, then that's worth quite a bit.

$150 is not bad at all for 3 months, that's 2 extensions if I remember correctly. ~(P3000x2)/44=$136

Was the travel agency over there or stateside?

Thanks Everyone for your reply . I did forget to say that I have booked my flight tickets already and the Travel Agent says that I will do the extended stay status when I enter Philippines at Manila at Immigration . Thr dates on the Tickets show that my stay will be for 34 days . Will it be best to do that then or can be done before I leave here on the 25th ... Thanks !

For future reference.

You can get a 59 day visa in advance (BEFORE you leave for the Philippines) but you have to either travel in person to the Philippine Consulate or have an authorized agent take your passport/documents to the consulate.

You can also get the automatic 21-day visa extended for another 38 days (59 days total) while you are in the Philippines by visiting or having an authorized travel agent take your passport/documents to the Immigration Office.

You can extend the 21-day visa up to one year via subsequent extensions. But after the 1 year, you have to exit the country & start again if you want to stay any longer.

If you are traveling with your spouse & he/she is a former Filipino Citizen, you can stay in the Philippines for up to a year with no visa under the Balikbayan program.

I had it done at a travel agency in Manila, I just dropped off my passport and the money and they took care of it, it took them a while though (I think they had my passport about 2 weeks or so ). I will try to find the name of the place I used , they were trustworthy its through my wifes work (she is in the hotel/travel industry)

I will get the name and address of the place and send you a message
