Hi,

I have been studying abroad at UBC in Canada for going on three years. I am a citizen in Canada as well. I have been moving around locations as a normal student would for housing, and have not put my name on any legal documents for residency here. I am wondering if i put down these locations on the places of residency over the past 5 years. I go back every summer to spend time with my family at our house in North Carolina. Can i just put down my address there, and ignore my time in Canada.

Also the question of your residency abroad for more than a year? Should i put Canada or will this screw me over for my form.. I am figuring there are some requirements for being away to long that they are tryingto get at... any help would be reallllly helpful

Please Hellpp,

Darren

For the purposes of this answer I'm assuming you are the USC.

Don't ever lie to USCIS. A lie of omission is still a lie. If you lived in Canada, write down that you lived in Canada. Why would you think this would "screw you over?" These questions aren't there to trick you, they just need to know where you've been.

IF , on interview day at the US Consulate IV unit in Guangzhou, any Visa Officer decides that you are outside of the USA (again, on interview day)

then

you'll need to provide some proof of 're-establishing US Domicile' to yer foreign fiance, to hand over to the Visa Officer on Interview Day.

As to the G-325A on you, for initial I-129F submittal - be truthful. Ommission is a form of misrepresentation, and you don't want to be dinged for that, ever.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
