Roundtrip tickets to Philippines

We want to spend Christmas and New Year in Philippines. The prices for December-January slights are so pricey! It's $2,000+++. I remember that before, you can get business class roundtrip ticket for $2,500 at Northwest. I found letsflycheaper.com but they too can't get me a price lower than $2k. Anyone here knows a travel agency or website where I can get it cheaper? Its going to be the 4 of us- 2 adults, 1 5yr old kid and a baby. Thanks!

Unfortunately this is high tourist season during that time. Alot of abroad Filipinos traveling home for the holidays.

Butif you find something better than the delta/NWA thenpleas letme know.

When I was going to the RP, I went in the months of July, Nov, Feb and every year my Nov ticket was a lot more.

Tickets aren't up at this time for just the RP, they are up no matter where you are going.

I agree this would be the first December visit I would make and the feb/April and July tickets were 1/2 the cost

Holiday tickets are definitely more expensive. I paid $1,900 RT from Alaska-Manila last year. $2,000+ RT from the east coast is probably about the best deal you'll get, considering it's around the holidays. But I will say that Christmas is the best time to go! It's cooler, drier, and there are so many festivities! New Years Eve was a real blast too, Manila was like a war zone because of all the fireworks!

I know....sigh. But it really has to be December as my parents requested for it. Northwest or Delta is higher than other airlines like Cathay Pacific, Continental, etc. Im still trying and will let you guys know if I found something cheaper.

You might want to talk to a travel agent in the flesh. She beat the fares I saw online so her $50 fee was worth it in my book.

Hubby checked almost all airline ticketing websites to find cheapest ticket also for this december, but we still ended up in expedia. We found some cheaper ones but was only 5 or 10 dollars difference than expedia. Probably Not worth it to risk our flights from the delays and hustles lol. Coz we really dont know some of those websites just in case we encounter problem. Bought ticket in expedia and flying in Philippines on December 26. We going to spend Christmas here and New year to my parents in Philippines.... Finally !!!

Update:I was able to find a cheaper than $2,000+++ flight. Every website that I checked, it was $2,000. I tried sidestep.com and the site found me a $1,609 roundtrip ticket(net-including taxes and fees) to Philippines leaving on Decmeber 15 via United Airlines and Japan Airlines. So we get to spend Christmas and New Year in Philippines! I guess that price is ok knowing that the dates I chose were peak season.

I paid a big premium last summer for wife's ticket to Thailand in July.

It seems the US market literally has the world over a barrel regarding

airfare pricing, despite the fact that July is not high tourist season in

Thailand.

Regarding the Philippines, you have a double-whammy in effect

because both the US and the Philippines have heavy travel during the

Christmas season.

I have used Priceline.Com but more often used the travel filter Sidestep.com

and bought from the lowest bidder.
