priority dates

hi,

can someone tell me the reasons behind the priority date on the I-797 NOA 1 please.

our priority date is 15th Sept 2010 and the notice date is 16th Sept 2010.

how does it matter?

it also says if a priority date is printed on this notice, the priority date does not reflect earlier retained priority dates...

Since you're an IR-1/CR-1 filer, priority date does not matter. Priority date is for those filing for visas that have a set amount given out per year. Since IR-1/CR-1 visas are always available immediately, you need not worry about the priority date at all, but focus on the notice date, aka NOA1. So in your case, September 16th.
