Bwoy, I really don't understand this ATALL!! To be honest the USC has more right to be in their home Embassy then the bloody Beneficiary! I have to tell you if I traveled all the way to JA & went to MY Embassy only to be told I couldn't come in...I woulddah guh MAD!! At the very least...Senator, Congressman, PRESIDENT would get a call from me requesting a detailed explanation as to why I, as a US Citizen in a foreign nation was not permitted inside my own Embassy!! I mean even if dem sey 'You can't go into the Interview room.', that's one thing...but to deny entry to the Embassy all together is ridiculous. I am really sorry to hear this news. I find it to be very unfair to all new filers.

Take care,

Gill

Good Night peace -- sorry, but try not to feel so bad. My husband's friend has to go back with his fiancee as well. She was outside the embassy during his interview and he told them that...they didn't care gave them a new date to return next month with her and she is livid. I don't understand, if the petioner is outside and the benificary tells the IO that why can't they just come in and present themselves.

It's true..my fiances interview was 10/15 and I was NOT allowed in...the "ladys in pink" told me if they needed me they would come get me and the security guards told me if they wanted an interview with me, that they would blue slip him and set up a new interview date asking for me to be present!! Luckily that didn't happen and he got through!!!! :)

I would have been livid too, had I been there and they didn't care. When the guards told me that they would just "set up another appointment" I was frustrated and I vented to the guard, I said "this was a wasted trip"!" He said "Don't say that..." and he went inside for me to notify them that I was there and would only be there till Monday (It was Friday)...I don't know if that helped or not but they never asked to see me, and he got approved.

Thank you for updating us... confirmation is always good. Honestly, I'm hoping to be allowed in... I got an email again from the embassy on oct. 12 saying it's normal pratice to allow someone to accompany the visa applicant in IR-5 cases. Went on to say no specific documentation will be required.

Did they let you in the embassy Ricardo??

I saw that your parents were approved, congratulations!!

Thank you for the acknowledgement..!!

Yes i was allowed to Enter the Embassy/Consulate... I was in the interview waiting room HOWEVER did not go to the windown with my parents..... They will let people in IF your have an email from the embassy saying you've been given access to accompany the applicant... I am going back to Jamaica for another interview I guess in 7-9 months for my young brother who is 14..my mom will be the one who will petition for him. Then i will be TOTALLY done with the embassy of Jamaica.. My family or I will have no one that needs sponsorship.

I also sent an email yesterday asking about this "New Rule" and they also confirmed it. Here is the response:

Hello

Thank you for your inquiry. Only the beneficiary will be allowed for the interview.

Regards

Very short and simple.

Our Interview on 9.28.10 thankfully was successful. However, just some information to note. As far as I previously gathered, both parties to the K-1 petition have been allowed to attend the interview. It only makes sense if the point of the interview is to solidify the notion that the union is "bonafide" So I booked my ticket, took time off from work and we both showed up in the POURING RAIN. At the gate, I was informed that ONLY the beneficiary would be granted access. So of course I proceeded to explain that this is a K-1 petition and we were both required to be present. I asked to speak with someone else, because clearly this man don't have a clue. I was informed by 2 different Embassy representatives of the "new" rule (established a few weeks ago and of course not published ANYWHERE) whereby IF an interview is needed with the petitioner, a SEPARATE DATE will be scheduled. As if, at a whim, I can tell my boss I'm not coming in today and fly home. The rep said "It's good you're here to support him but you can't come in" I can only find that funny, now that it's over. How much support could I have given from outside - luckily we drove, but nonetheless, it was raining and who can burn AC for 4hrs when gas so dear? The "new rule" contradicts why blue slips are issued when some petitioners are not present in the 1st place. One wonders if he did receive a blue slip for me to be present, would they have allowed him to come get me from the outside??? We've known each other for 8yrs and were prepared for whatever they came with, but all he got was: When did we meet? When did the relationship turn serious? When will we get married? Go pay at the DHL window. So for those with upcoming interviews - you may want to inquire of this "new rule" prior to making any travel arrangements.

Thanks for the information. I would be really upset if I traveled that far and couldn't attend the interview. I will do my research when I get closer to that point in the process.

Thanks again...
