I am preparing the forms for my AOS and was wondering if anyone could answer the following questions on the I-485:

1. All the other forms have been asking for the alien number which i assume is the A........ but on Part 3A of the I-485 it asks for the Nonimmigrant visa number, is this the number in red?

2. Part 1 right down the bottom it asks for your I-94 number and current USCIS status and next to that it says expires on.....are they asking when your I-94 expires or when your K1 visa expires?

Thanks

A# is the number on the NOA2, and yes the non-immigrant visa number is the red number printed on his visa.

2. Part 1 right down the bottom it asks for your I-94 number and current USCIS status and next to that it says expires on.....are they asking when your I-94 expires or when your K1 visa expires?

They're asking when the I-94 expires.

Thanks

  1. Yes, Alien-# is the one beginning with A...; the non-immigrant visa number will be written (usually at POE) by the IO--it is not the I-94 number (which I suspect is the red one you asked about)
  2. In the case of K-1, the I-94 expiry is the same as the K-1 expiry

K1 expiry is usually 6 months...meaning the visa holder has up to 6 months to use the visa to enter the U.S. the first time.

I-94 expiry is 90 days...the visa holder has 90 days to get married from the time s/he enters the U.S.

The A# that the POE officer writes on the I-94 is on the NOA2 and printed on the visa.

The non-immigration visa control number is the unique number in red print, also on the visa.

  1. Yes, Alien-# is the one beginning with A...; the non-immigrant visa number will be written (usually at POE) by the IO--it is not the I-94 number (which I suspect is the red one you asked about)

Hi

Thanks for replying to this but i know that neither of the answers above are correct. The red number is actually the non immigrant number (it is on my visa) It is not the I-94 number, which is on the I-94. And the K1 expiry is not the same as the I-94 expiry. Well, not in my case anyway. Just thought i would reply to this just incase anyone is in the same position as me.

Thanks
