Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I'm a bit nervous but glad I got this website from someone. I'm currently looking into the process for the k-1 visa, have a british boyfriend and we plan on getting married sometime next year. I've been looking into the entire process and have a couple questions.

1. Is the price $1805, the cost of the entire process including the petition and other costs with the visa when your fiancee does their part?

2. He wants to visit here, meet the family some more and have us get the marriage/living/etc things sorted, he'd only visit for a week and a half or two, and I'm curious if this is actually possible for him to do? I know that with the K-1 visa he can only arrive in the U.S. once, he has to arrive 6 months after the visa is issued and we have to be married with 90 days of that. I was just wondering about before when I was sending in the petition and that?

Thank you so much and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more from me in the future!

Best,

Kristin

Welcome. The costs are the initial petition filing, 455, then medical/vaccination costs which vary( ~200?), then the visa itself, 350. Plus things like courier fees and copies and postal charges and passport photos, etc.

He can visit if he's eligible to do so on the VWP, just like any other time. He may need to bring proof of the K1 process to show at the border.

And with the K1, he has 6 months to enter--he doesn't have to "arrive 6 months after" the visa is issued. He can enter the day after he gets the visa, or within 6 months. Then you marry within 90 days.

It's definitely standard to be nervous, but just read the guides thoroughly, a few times, and carefully gather all your materials. Ask questions here anytime, fill in your timeline and beneficiary country, and bookmark this forum and the UK regional forum for specifics on London consulate practices. There will also be a thread for all the filers in the month that you turn in your petition, so you can compare notes and support each other.

Good luck!

Yep--go to the top of the page and click "Guides." On the left side of the page is are links for K1. Read them all--guide, flowchart, checklist, etc. For filling out the 129f, see "Example Forms," also at the top of this page, right below the Guides tab. This example form will show you how to fill in each thing. If there are fields that you are still confused about, just ask.

so, I'm filling this out and explained a lot on Question 18, explaing the time we met and times after that in the past two years, just to be on the safe side. It went over, so do I just use a blank sheet stating this at the top:

mark additional sheet as "I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your Fiance(e) met and seen you)

I just want to make sure I can use a blank sheet of paper for that or not :) and thanks for the example sheet, it really does help!!!

Right, what Inky means is that you should write "See Supplement Page Titled Blah Blah Question 18" or whatever in the space provided on the form, so they are directed immediately to your additional sheet, titled the way you said it would be. Let that be all that's written in the space on the form.

Then on the additional sheet, keep the explanation simple, with a brief description of the meeting that you will be proving in your evidence with passport stamps and boarding passes if you have them. You don't have to build up evidence of your relationship, just prove the meeting in the past 2 years.

Thank you for clarifying :) Should I show proof of our conversations as well? And if so how should I do that? And am I allowed to just use copies of my passport stamps and can I just print out receipts from my trips of us staying together. Do I need his as well? This is all coming together and I'll be honest I'm not sure if he kept his visit information to here in June.

All that's required for the initial petition is proof of meeting and a few pictures. You don't need to include conversations--that's relationship stuff he can take to the interview, and they probably won't care. With some consulates, it's good to "front load" with a lot of evidence of a bonafide relationship, but London isn't one of them. Make your petition streamlined and orderly. It might just catch someone's eye as an easy petition to process.

Copies of the passport stamps is fine; I did mine in color and enlarged so the stamps were very clear. Receipts and that sort of thing is secondary evidence and not so useful. If you've got the passport stamps, you are fine. Passport stamps, boarding passes=very good. Itineraries/receipts=not solid evidence.

Awesome, I will be able to make a copy of my Visa I got previously for my first visit there and then I have another passport stamp from my second visit, should I get his passport stamp to here because i stated we saw each other here in the united states too? I have plenty of pics though that I will include, do I have to put those in a plastic bag as well and state what they are ??? Also, with the G325 Form A, with my residence, what if I lived in London at a University/Daniel (fiancee) home? I have to put that in there right?

Names dates and places writen on back of the photos putem in a plastic bag just so they dont fall all over in the mailer. Paper clip or staple it to a page in the petition.

We included 25 photos, stamps from both passports, itinerarys and ticket stubs from flights. Emails, msn chats, copys of snail mail cards and envelopes, print outs from phone records which we highlighted to show the phone numbers ( even tho it said my city and province beside it. )

I'll have to go through my photos, and I'll ask if he can get the stamp from this time to the United States when he visited. And then I can show my flight info for that flight where we met up. I'll get my stamps as well documented. Now I save our conversations, but am i supposed to print out all the pages or if I can find the dates, print out multiple pages? I'm not sure the best way of going along with that. Thanks for all the examples :)

Yeah, go ahead and get his stamp from visiting you as well, if it's easy enough. You should be very solid. Describe on your supplemental sheet the three visits with dates that correspond to the three pieces of documentation that back them up--be factual instead of telling a romantic story. "We met like this, then visited on this date, and this one, and this one." Not really necessary to list more than one meeting but can't hurt and doesn't overwhelm them with data.

Send maybe 8 photos. They don't really need more than 3 or 4. You can position them in a document, maybe 4 to a page, with names and dates beneath each, and print it out on regular paper. I did printing on photo paper, cut them out, put them in plastic bags and stapled them to blank sheets of paper, but that may have been overkill. I've heard seasoned veterans describe the simple layout-print out method as perfectly acceptable. Just remember to label each pic.

I would put your passport photos (not the stamp evidence, but the photos you need to include) in plastic bags stapled or clipped to a sheet of paper with names written on back of the photos.

Now I save our conversations, but am i supposed to print out all the pages or if I can find the dates, print out multiple pages? I'm not sure the best way of going along with that. Thanks for all the examples :)
