Please let me know your experience on how long it took from when the National Visa Center completed your case, until you've received your interview. I am F1 - unmarried son of US Citizen, NVC completed Aug.26 - 2010, PD Sep. 2004, waiting for interview date @ US Consulate Frankfurt. Can anyone guess how long it may take / or give me your experience how long it took to receive interview date? I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance.

Three factors:

1.Generally NVC schedules interviews in the second week of each month for the following month.

2. Depends on the capacity of the consulate to hold the interview...how many slots are available etc. Does a F1 have a priority over a CR1? who knows.

3.Following what is happening in my case for a interview in India, there is no consistency. For example, we are told that they are still scheduling even though the second week has passed. Mumbai consulate appears to have finished scheduling, they have a list up on the consulate. Delhi and Chennai do not.

Best thing for you to do is call NVC (upto 20-30 minute wait sometimes)...ask for an operator (option 5). Tell them my case has been completed on xx-date, has my interview been scheduled? and see what they say.

Good luck.

Have a quick question regarding the above .. Does the visa type have any effect on the scheduling of the interview ? Does any type have a priority on an other? Or once the case is completed all r treated equally.

Please advise.

Thanks

This is good information to have. Once you have a priority date it shouldn't matter. But its worth calling NVC and asking an operator about it.

Logically, spouse, parents or children of a US citizen should be considered the same. But who ever said that Immigration was logical...?
