Civics Questions

Just to make sure I understand this correctly ... The only questions that can be asked for the civics portion of the test are drawn from the 100 question list? Or is this list of questions more of an example?

That's correct. I ordered the 100 Flash Cards online for $14.00 (shipping included). As an educated European, you most likely will be able to answer 80-or-so without problems. That leaves you with only a small number of questions where you need to memorize the answers. It's really not much of a challenge to prepare for the test within just a few days.

Fact: 15% of native born Americans can't find the USA on a map; 24% don't know that Turkey is a country. My guess: nearly half of them would not even know where it's located. Now imagine their looks if you asked them what the capitol of Vietnam is, and you'll understand why I feel that any citizen registered to vote should have to pass the very test we Americans in the making have to pass before we can call ourselves US citizens.

Yes - they only ask questions from the 100 we are given to study.

In addition, it looks like the same 10 questions are picked for all the states each month. That means on Oct 1 a VJ member in NY reports certain questions are asked in their interview, on Oct 15 in CA the same questions are asked! They have a selection of 10 questions they ask, and we must get at least six right. However, usually only six questions are asked because they are all answered correctly.

Just Bob: if us native born US Citizens took that test (and got the more difficult questions), many of us would not pass! I have been learning a lot helping my hubby study, haha! Of course, we knew all the answers in grade school but never use the info so it faded away into a dusty corner in our brains.
