The step by step guide recommends making TWO COPIES of the K1 I-129F packet. Does this mean we make copies of forms with signatures on them? In this case does it matter if the signatures are not originals and instead are copies? A copy of the packet will be sent to the fiancee for her interview. Is this really one big copy? I do not need original signatures in this case?

9/9/10: I-129F Sent

9/15/10: Received NOA1 via text/email from USCIS

9/16/10: Received NOA1 in mail (dated 9/13/10)

9/20/10: Touched!

10/03/10: Touched to the dusty shelves!

2/28/11: NOA2 finally

3/04/11: Arrived at NVC

3/08/11: Left NVC and arrived at CDJ consulate

4/04/11: Packet 3 sent

4/13/11: Packet 3 received!

4/18/11: Medical Exam

4/19/11: ASC

4/20/11: Interview (Approved!)

4/29/11: K-1 Visa in hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4/30/11: Entered USA

the copies are just for you to keep in case something gets misfiled or lost in the mail. We actually signed both the original and the copy instead of having a photocopied signature.

That being said, I don't think I was asked for any part of the I129f packet at my interview. Many people don't bring any of it. It is just for insurance I think.

LOL, I'm a bit ####### retentive about my copies/filing. I made 3 complete sets of EVERYTHING, including the Interview packet with forms, proof of relationship, I-134 and backup documentation, etc.

On top of the 3 complete file folders FULL (nearly 4 pounds of paper each) I also had digital scanned copies on my laptop, my work computer, a flash drive, and the sd card of my phone. (I had the flash drive and my phone on me at all times... just in case).

Overkill is NEVER a bad thing in this case. :blush:

I think they suggest to make copies in case your packet gets "lost" and you may re-submit and and also so that you have it at the interview. I made copies of all paperwork I sent (including a copy of the check!). It is alwaya better to err in the side of caution...

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.
