I-130 affidavit of marital relationship

Hi,

The "official" websites don't have much on translations and notarizations (if I'm mistaken, please let me know where to find this) -- so does anyone here have experience in the marital relationship affidavits from friends, relatives, etc. as to how best to organize them for the I-130 package? What I mean is: besides the affidavit in the original language (Chinese in this case), what else is needed? A translation of that, and what else? Notarization? Of what, the original, the translation, or both?

Really specific information would help.

This is very helpful, thanks -- did you have to deal with translations and notarizations of the affidavits in Chinese? If so, how did you do that?

Also, were all your pictures of the two of you together, or did you include some of just you in China and some of just her that maybe you took?

re: affadavits from friends / family in Wuhan -

chinese first, then translated into english then each page notarized .

it wasn't 'so bad' on the price, got it done for less than 1000 rmb. same place marriage cert was done - they did the affadavits transations.

re: photos - most photos of us , us with her family. not any of 'her alone'.

So, like in the States, the person who wrote the affidavit had to go to the marriage place with you to sign in front of the notary?

nah - usually the 'translation office' is NOT at the wedding office -

but the wedding office KNOWS the right translation office to send you to...

I'll dig around, there's some official name for the translation office, it produces the 'white books' , like for marriage certificate, police clearance certificate, birth certificate, etc...

and i'll post it back later...

re: in the states - meh - any notary (like at a bank) is sufficient..

My wife is asking whether we need a "foreign certification" on these affidavits (外交认证) -- I've never heard of this; anyone know what this is and if it's needed?
