Hi,

My father has applied for my permanent resident visa under Unmarried child 21/older of permanent resident 203(a)(2)(B)INA and I am currently maintaining a F1 student status. I received I-130 approval in July of last year and am currently waiting for a visa number to be available. I would like to know if I can go ahead and file for the I-485 and whether or not the I-485 will be approved before a visa is available? Is there also a

you can't. you have to wait until the priority date is current. you're in a waiting line and you have to wait your turn. if you the adjustment packet before your priority date is current, they will return your packet with a note, stating that your priority date isn't current.

you cannot just send the i485 once the priority date is current, you have to send the whole packet with all the forms, payments and documents.
