N400 form- Section 7, Quest A and B: time outside US

I'm filling out my N400 form and I've been in the US nearly 4 years and an LPR for 3 years now (9 months waiting for GC), and am filing for naturalization under the 3 year, married to a US Citizen rule.

I understand that the default language of the N400 in Part 7 (time outside the US) asks you for the number of days you've been out of the US in the last FIVE YEARS - can folks who also applied under the 3 year rule tell me how they've handled parts A and B of Section 7?

Did you scratch out "five" and write in 3?

Should I just calculate for the past 3 years (of LPR status) and leave it at that -not scratching out "5" - USCIS will figure it out.

I'd appreciate just knowing how folks have handled this question/part A and B of this section.

If I calculate that 5th year - I was of course out of the US for most of that year.

Cross out 5 and write in 3. Only count since you became LPR, not before.
