I've already submitted my I-130 & I-485 to immigration. My mother told me I got a letter from CIS in 2005 but it wasn't a notice to appear... she doesn't remember what the letter was pertaining to actually but she said if it was something like a notice to appear, or anything about removal proceedings, she would have tried to contact me in everyway possible. My tourist visa expired in 1998. (when I was 11)

Does anyone know what other reasons why immigration sends overstayed immigrants letters? I was previously denied a green card when I was10 yrs old. (8 years before the letter was sent) could it just be that they were writing me to follow up to see if I was in the process of doing anything? My mom still lives at the address and hasn't gotten anything from CIS since. I'm just hoping it doesn't affect the applications that I ALREADY submitted last week. (for a marriage based green card)

Does anyone have any idea what the letter could have been?? Or how I can find out?? Could my husband make an infopass appointment with an immigration officer and ask them questions about me and the letter if he shows up with proof we are married and shows them my I-94, visa, new passport, etc? I'm out of status so I'd rather not see an immigration officer until our interview... I think the processing time right now is 4 months for AOS.

It would help if you could start at the beginning (and fill out a time line), then people can better answer your question. :)
