Hello everyone,

I am trying to get a relative to agree to become my co-sponser, but things do not look good. So I am looking at asking another relative to agree to enter into a Contract between Household Members I-864a. That's just a little status on my situation.

My question is I keep seeing this statement occassionally, but I can't find any details on it. Follows - An expression of willingness to deposit a bond, if necessary, with the Immigration and Naturalization Service to guarantee that the applicant will not become a public charge in the United States.

Is this Bond in addition to an I-134 or a possible option as opposed to filing the I-134 without a co-sponsor? If so, is there a baseline or percentage invloved in determining the amount of the Bond?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Kevin n' Rose

No idea about the bond, but the contract is for the I-864 not the I-134.

I-864 Instruction Form

I-134 Instruction Form

These two forms are NOT interchangeable.

Each has its own very specific application.

Read both carefully to see which you should use based upon your situation.

The Bond is not really a possibility to achieve qualification. If the government considers the bond, it really means you will be denied. It is just a statement of how far you would be willing to go.

If you are considering using assets for qualification rather than actual income, you will need roughly 5 times the required income for your houysehold size. If the household size is 2 members, the required amount is about $18,000, so you would need $90,000 in assets such as cash, stocks, bonds, home equity free and clear, etc...

Good luck.
