For those who have already got there visa, married, etc. Where is a good place to find these items in the US? Other than maybe ebay which seems a little high priced and mediocre quality.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it's not too far. We already have plans on visiting that market. She is going to try and bring some in her suitcase. I didn't have any trouble with US customs, but maybe she will. I think they were mostly looking for meats, plants, etc. The tea, pepper, jars of sauce and gouqi didn't cause any problems.

Tell her to put it in her checked bag, preferably in a plastic bag.....still in original container. I brought back a lot of tea in my checked bag.

Not sure they even looked at it?

I live in upstate SC. One of our local flea markets has some asians selling produce, and the prices are good. You may want to ask around.

Yer gonna think I'm nuts. But - is huge 'China Students Organization' at the university. You should get in to a meeting, inquire for preferred shopping locations, make some new friends, inquire with the faculty sponser on 'chinese things in yer area' - as the faculty sponser and the president of that organization both, are 'wired in' for local Chinese Things.

Stay away from 'Taiwanese-centric' things and people, though, as they love to #### with PRC people, at every given opportunity, regardless of venue, topic, or situation.

in my experience taiwanese are polite to mainlanders, as long as the mainlanders are H1b and the taiwanese are LPR or citizens, which is often the case in our area. mainlanders can be rude to taiwanese from time to time.
