How long can we wait to file AOS?

How long can we safely wait from being married within the required 90 days and when we file for AOS? I am wanting to delay the filing the AOS because my 2009 tax return is required as part of the package and I owe a lot of money on my taxes. I have filed an extension on my 2009 taxes and am preparing to pay the taxes so I will have the required paperwork for the AOS. How long can I safely wait to apply for AOS after a proper marriage within the 90 day K-1 requirement?

I-129 sent to USCIS - 07-09-2009

Check cashed- 07-17-2009

NOA1 received -07-29-2009

NOA2 RECEIVED (by E-mail) 10:45 PM (Central Time) 11-04-2009!!! YeHeyyyyy!!!

Medical -11-25-09 PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interview date- 12-15-09APPROVED!!!!!!!!

Not a K-1 fiance(e) visa general discussion topic... moving thread to AOS forum... an entire forum dedicated to the AOS process... If you take the time to read the posts inside this forum, you will discover this question has been posted many times before...

Your spouse will be out of status until you get the NOA1 for filing the AOS. Some people have waited a year or more before filing for the AOS. Most out of status visa entrants are forgiven when the AOS is submitted.

I remember one VJer telling the story of getting stopped by BDP or ICE while being out of status.

How long can you safely wait is not really a question that can be answered. It is like asking how many stop signs can you run or how long can you speed? Until you get caught is the only answer.

Naturalization

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony
