Hi all,

Went to the SSA a couple weeks ago to get my husband's SSN, we had no issue at all, got very lucky I think compared to the horror stories I've heard. When they were entering his name into the computer they said that what USCIS put into the system didn't match what his name actually is. USCIS put his first name and middle name as one name, on his card it looks right, but they said we'll have to get it fixed before we come back to have them remove DHS auth as it won't match for employment and taxes. So how do we fix this with USCIS?

Have you filed yet for AOS? You will use his correct name when you file and you could attach a note that says SSA informed you that someone omitted the space between your husband's first and middle names so that they run on together and you want to make sure that the information is corrected. When he receives the NOA1 from USCIS it should show the name that is on file and you will be able to see if they have indeed corrected it. If not, then you can make an infopass appointment at the local USCIS office and meet with an officer to get the name corrected. If you have already filed for the AOS , then when you get the NOA1 you can make the infopass appointment and get it straightened out.
