Question...

Hello All:

i hope everyone is good. a friend of mine has asked a question that i do not know the answer. a female friend of mine is in Algeria on a job assignment there. She is an American citizen and she found an Algerian she wants to spend her life with. What would be the best way to go about it?

Should she quit her job and come back to America in hopes of finding a job that will meet the income requirement? Or what would be her other options.

Please all advice is welcome.

If she has been a legal resident in the country she's in (with a visa)for at least six months she could qualify for Direct Consular Filing IF the consulate or embassy there offers DCF. If not, she'll need to apply for the K1 at the USCIS.

Check out the guides and flow charts at the top of the page. You will find lots of valuable information on the path she'll need to take.

Good luck to your friend.

Also, a DCF is only available if she marries him. If she wants to do a fiance visa she will need to return to the states and do a K1. If she decides to marry him she can continue to live there if she has someone to co-sponsor him financially back in the states.
