it just isn't true that most will leave the profession as soon as they can. i know of many who stay in it for many many years. it becomes a "real" job and so as soon as they are broke, they will go back. it is true that many don't have any other skills and many don't want to conform to a regular work environment or schedule. so many situations. situation is different depending on the country as well. the US has plenty of job opportunities (forget current recession), however 3rd world countries do not. why do women in the US do it (even when the economy is good)? there are hundreds of thousands doing it in the US.

i think you are right, however on one thing. most do it for the cash, not because they like sex more than average.

my feeling is that providers stubble into the profession to survive. they think they'll make some quick cash and then be out of it. the human mind adapts quickly. i bet, if you have to clean filthy dirty ####### filled toilets all day, you would get used to it. they get use to having sex with fat, hairy old guys quicker than they could ever imagine is my belief.

Right, what you say makes sense. I have other questions, but I think you have been more than fair on this, so I'll quit asking you now. Thanks again.

I wonder if the parents of porn stars watch the movies that their daughter stars in. Somehow I think not.

I wonder if the proud father's of prostitutes are comfortable when their own friends solicit her services?

i'd guess not either. i'd also suspect kids, once they've grown up, don't watch porn movies their parents were in either.

JIM: "Ed old buddy, you just don't seem like yourself"

ED: "Well its like this Jim. Ever since I broke up with Mary I just don't have an outlet for my passions. This sexual tension is a killer!"

JIM: "Well, have you thought about seeing a prostitute?"

ED: "I've thought about it, but I'm really not comfortable with having sex with a stranger. Plus that whole disease thing, you know"

JIM: "I hear you. Well you could always hire my daughter. You've known her since she was a little girl. She's quite the looker nowadays as I'm sure you've noticed and I have her last STI health certificate right here. Her ####### is as clean as a surgeons hands. Plus she's got a special rate right now: 2 hours for the price of 1".

ED: "Thanks Jim, you're a real pal - I'm in!"

So the consequence of being a prostitute is that you neither trust men, nor can be trusted? That doesn't seem to me to be very satisfactory - unless of course 'trust' has no value to the person, which from what you are saying does not seem to be the case - at some point most prostitutes, providers, whatever at least want to try a more conventional relationship?

Thanks for answering again by the way. Kudos for that, and I mean it sincerely. These questions could be answered by anyone that has similar experiences as you, but it seems no one else is willing to give it a go.

trust is tough to conquer when both parties have been provider and client. when both parties have been client and provider, sometimes it is the guy that can't trust, sometimes it is the provider, sometimes both so with such high chance of distrust, it usually kills the relationship. that is what i've seen play out many times. another typical scenario is when the guy can't fully support the provider on the same level as when she was a provider. when she needs something he either won't provider or can't provide, she will momentarily return to provider to meet her needs and it usually gets her in trouble (his friends who are still clients see her in the bar and tell).

providers do leave the profession for conventional relationships, yes, that is true, but many return as soon as the relationship is over. i've seen some providers become bartenders then later see them back on the other side of the bar as provider again. bartending either didn't pay enough or she couldn't confrom to regular work environment and schedule. providers create their own schedule and work environment and it seems it is difficult for them to give that up.

LOL, you know i would! :)

Really? I am not suggesting that you would watch it in the same way as a porn consumer would, but even so, that does seem a bit icky to me. I would not have let my dad perform a pap smear on me if he was a Dr, and I am sure he would have been uncomfortable with the idea, even though I have no problem having it done with male Dr's who are strangers. It just seems, inappropriate.

 I did not get that it was a joke. Sorry.

Ok, new question.

I believe it is safe to assume that the majority of prostitutes (providers of sex) fake sexual pleasure with their clients. How enjoyable is sex with someone you know is not getting turned on by it?

It would seem that the hooker is not being paid to enjoy sex, she is paid to pleasure the john.

What would you say to your daughter (a hypothetical one - and so as not to get bogged on in the "well, it would be ok but I'd have to tell her no because it's illegal" argument, in this hypothesis prostitution is legal) if she came to you and told you she had decided to pay off her college fees by becoming a prostitute? Let's imagine also, that she is going to turn down a reasonably well paying, but boring office job in order to pursue her 'career' choice.

Any thoughts?

I don't think there's anything wrong with being a stripper, a prostitute or a porn star,

so I'd give her my blessing.

Yes, I know which is why I asked how enjoyable is the sex when you know the person you are having sex with it not getting turned on by it?
