Couple of years back there was a back log of 5 years, for the F2(A) category. F2 (A) is the category for permenant resident spouse filing I-130 for his/her spouse.

Those from India, china and other countries has to wait for almost 5-6 years for the visa to become available at NVC stage. Traditinally in this category once the petitioner becomes a citizen of united states, he/she requests the NVC and USCIS to upgrade the petition to IR1/CR1 category. So there is no wait time and things moves faster.

But NOW looking at the dates of processing on both USCIS and NVC (visa bulletin) websites, it appears that within just last couple of years it has moved so fast.

USCIS is processing I-130 F2(A) cases of MARCH 2009 and so does NVC. So practically right now the wait for I-130 approval for F2(A) category is 1.5 years. And also priority date for F2(A) category is MARCH 2009. In all about 2 years, beneficiary can be able to get visa and travel to USA. That's a great news for people who are on Green Card and want to bring their spouse earliest to USA.

Cheers all GC filers....
