you should really fill out the applicaiton to the best of your abilities. if there are no exact equivalents t o your home country, mark whichever is closest to the best of your knowledge.

for networking, that takes time and effort. in the time you build up your network, you can try working at jobs taht do not require contacts. that accomplishes a number of things. shows initiative. helps improve your english. buiilds up your network. get paid ( :D ) builds up your confidence.

I've seen this with Ana. She is is similar boat as you guys. What she did in Mexico was way "above" what she is doing here. But it is an investment/stepping stone so she can get back to where she was. I do have contacts. And we did go talk to them. The y all said the same. That Ana was well qualified but that she need to master her english. ok, so how do we do that? the route we chose was as described above. it will take some time. but i definitely see how her english is improving, she consistently outperforms her co-workers and thus re-inforces her self worht, she is building relationship with coworkers who can be part of her network.

so, keep your spirits up, keep trying , do not give up. all of you are sharp people and will do well.

Daniel

also keep in mind that in the US like in Brazil, we have the QI=quem indicou

That doesn't apply to me. Everybody says that networking is everything, how am I possibly supposed to network if there is absolutely no1 I know in the entire country. Charles is not from Kansas, he doesn't know many people here.

Lis, deixei sim, fui na biblioteca imprimir porque a gente não tem impressora e na hora de preencher as job applications tem coisas que complica aí eu coloco ''see resume'' :P Tipo, college undergraduate stuff, graduate stuff, associates or bachelor degree, stuff like that, in Brazil it doesn't work like that, there is no high school in Brazil, there is no bachelors or associates degree in Brazil, so when it's too complicated to fill in the info when everything works different, I just attach my resume.

Nessa, QI happens all over the world. It is a kind of "lever" for you, but doesn't mean that it 's everything. There are a lot of opportunities... What is your background in Brazil? Our high school = your 2 grau. associate /Bachelor degree = diploma universitario...It can be a Technical course (2 years) or college (usualy 4 years or + in Brazil), depends on what are the job requirements. Do you have any ? Which area are you looking for? You have a 2nd language that is not Spanish, this is a skill that is not very commom in some areas of the US, and can be considered as a ++. Think positive !! You can also request to the consulate to validade your school report here...sometimes it works very well....

Vanessa

Natty I try to think positive sometimes, but sometimes I just feel frustrated. But I know I have to be patient and I'll find something. College I started at business administration and then I decided to change to communications - advertis./marketing, but I'm looking for something in administrative area, which is what I have experience.

I opened my bucket of cat litter and there was this cupon for reward points. Each product comes with one and then you register online and start acumulating points to get little cat rewards such as toys, etc. But they don't send the rewards to PR so no use in me using it. Since I know some of you also use fresh step products, I thought maybe some of you were acumulating points.
