From all my "corporate sensitivity" training, the only group that is truly discriminated against is caucasian male ages 18-45. This group really has no protection against discrimination due to the workplace demographics from when these foolish laws and forms were developed. I did embarrass corporate legal our last "training session" on this topic. (Example, notice how all other ethnic groups and females (and not Caucasian male) have special interest groups to represent them. Now consider who the laws are really constructed to protect.)

I bet they were embarrassed all right. (But for themselves? Hmm....)

yes they were.

after listening to all the examples of different groups being discriminated against, and how this is easily done ... like the trouble maker I am ... I substituted the white male 18-45 category into the same examples with a reverse discrimination twist to indicate how the laws discriminated against the white male 18-45.

My co-workers chuckled ... the lawyer blushed ... did a true to life "Bill Clinton" maneuver and tried to duck the question. One of my co-workers noticed this and pressed for an answer. Again the start of the BC maneuver and .... well ... with a room full of engineers in Central VA, the question is answered or you lose all credibility. The corporate lawyer (female) admitted that this male age group is at a legal disadvantage compared to other groups.

You doubt, well to each their own. I suggest contacting your company's corporate legal and doing the research.

Let's take this off the Brasileiritchas thread if you have anything else to say. I just want to add that I'm sure one day if the poor little white males 18-45 need protection under the law, the law will be created. I'm sorry you think laws protecting other groups are "silly" but that certainly isn't how many of us feel. "Reverse discrimination," LAWL.

I'm just saying that unintended consequences happen if laws aren't always updated due to changing times and demographics. At that point change is required.

btw: I wrote "foolish" not silly. Foolish because it did not make provisions for all people, only groups. It was good legislation at the time because it was needed. Now it is time to change to include everyone.

Will that happen? Good question. Only time will tell.

I recently became "white". I didn't ask for it, it just happened because that's how I and some of my fellow used-to-be non-white Arabs are seen lately. It's quite disconcerting, what is passing for white due to immigration. A relative of mine married a pure blood Quechua Indian more than 3 decades ago, and was shocked to find out that her husband became a white man upon receiving AOS. People still thought he was Chinese tho, based upon the way he looked. If Asians, Indians, North Africans of all stripes and so on can become white, then white guys are due for a little affirmative action real soon! As a social scientist who studies social norms, I find this all very interesting.

BTW, race, being a social construct, varies across generations. I think that's why I'm now caught in a generation gap. There are some interesting books on how race has affected social groupings around the world, like "How the Irish Became White", How Jews Became White Folks and What That Says About Race in America ", and Working Toward Whiteness: How America's Immigrants Become White", among others. Currently, I'm reading a new book about a child caught up in the racial divide in South Africa in the early 1960s. I remember her case from when I was young. In case anyone is interested, it's titled "When Whe Was White".

You're welcome! It is a truly riviting subject. I keep up on it because I'm currently studying rates of social change in relation to migration patterns and communication technology. Fascinating!

Oi pessoal!

Achei umas dicas q acho q valeriam a pena postar pra vcs! (Pra quem tá a procura de empregos)

1) Free fax - FaxZero

2) LatPro

That is just a load of bollocks...
