We will be starting the DCF process and my question is since we were married the the states, Turkey doesn't recognize the marriage and therefore will there be any problems? I am aware that we could get our marriage registered at the consulate in Los Angeles, but that is not an option. We are both here in Turkey and so is it a REQUIREMENT that we get married again, here in Turkey before we start the DCF process. I want to be fully prepared and not have any "surprises" that can easily be avoided as there can be other "bumps" that can be encountered. Any and all replies are greatly appreciated!

Could you contact the consulate and ask them about your concern? They would be most competent to reply :) While there is definitely some variability, the consular assistants seems to be pretty prompt with their replies.
