........."It's important to remember that it's not just budget cuts, it's also tax raises. You have to give them credit for being serious about this. It is not pure ideology as with the right in the United States. They understand that if you're going to do something serious about the budget deficit, you've got to do both spending cuts and tax increases. There's simply no way for the math to work without doing that."........

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Yes, the cuts in the UK are very real. Radio 4 is going to do a series on how the cuts affect real people and real lives. They did a piece this morning on cuts that will effect people on the Isle of White - one of the first areas to be affected is day care centers for people with mental health issues. One lady in her 70's cares for her 43 year old mentally disabled daughter (you know, one of those children that is not allowed to be born in countries that have socialist medicine; they are routinely aborted by govmint decree!). The daughter attended the mental health day care center 3 times a week and was able to take part in many activities and she viewed these days out as her 'job'. This not only meant that the daughter got much needed stimulation and participation in activities that she could not undertake elsewhere, but the mother also got some respite from the job as carer. The closing of the center will mean a great deal of suffering for families like this.

waaaaaaaaah

There will be more stories of 80 year olds shacked up with 1000's of cats if they cut these types of services. Not something I would wish on my home country thank you.

suffering is life. get used to it.

Suffering is life? What kind of garbage is that? Next thing you'll be saying is that suffering is a useful learning tool, no one suffers for no reason; which is getting dangerously close to religious territory - and I thought you were at the very least agnostic.

suffering is a purifying force

How does suffering 'purify'? Suffering does #### all except make people miserable - I don't see anything beneficial about that whatsoever, however, be my guest, tell me how I would benefit from say, losing my child in an accident?

you want me to put in human words concepts that predate mankind, in fact predate our known reality.

No, I want you to explain how suffering is productive. I can't think of a good use for it at all, not one single positive that suffering produces that could not be produced without the individual having to undergo the suffering so please, enlighten.

I will take a shot at it. Suffering usually (but not always) follows a bad decision. The suffering teaches us the penalty for those bad decisions and makes us less prone to make that mistake again. If all suffering (if that is possible) is taken out of our exsistence then we will never learn from our mistakes.
