Although I imagine it would be nice to work from home, I don't think I could do it. There are simply too many distractions.

Like cats. They won't leave me alone if I am actually doing work. I don't know how they can tell when I am working vs goofing off on VJ, but they can.

Yeah, I was like that at first. Eventually you get to the point where you realize the 'privilege' will be taken away if you don't get stuff done so you do it.

I'm at the point when I miss working in an office. I never thought this day would come, but it has. It's very sad.

It sucks here. When I started working for real (i.e. corporate gig with bennies) just over a decade ago, I thought I'd be starting out in a cube and the cube would eventually get bigger and eventually there'd be an office or something with actual walls that go all the way to the ceiling.

Instead.. the cubes have just gotten smaller. My management is in cubes now too and they don't even get windows anymore. The only people who get windows now are the 'hotel offices' which are inhabited by... you guessed it - consultants.

I am cooped up with two insane females who walk backwards and vomit every time I talk to them. I ask them to do one thing and they do the opposite, even when I give am some treats and pat their botties..

I once worked for Occidental Petroleum and it was the same there

The cat vomited spectacularly on the bedroom carpet yesterday, then went and stood in the corner, staring at the wall like the guy at the end of Blair Witch Project. I had to leave the room, it was so unnerving. And then I had to come back and pick up massive amounts of still-warm cat puke.

I remember when my boss in London was forced out of his office with a door into the cube farm because we all went open plan (except the Chief Exec, FD and CIO, of course). It was not a happy day. I was pleased because it meant we were moving from the middle of the office where everyone could see you to the very end of the office where it was blissfully quiet, with no opportunities for anyone to notice you spent much of the day on ebay.

Why is it always on the carpet? Why can't they puke on the tiles? Or into their litter box?

Wow, if they had given us bennies at my previous place of employment, we wouldn't have disliked it so much! And we would have gotten along better. star_smile.gif

You have a story, don't you? Tell us.

Nope. My lips are sealed. I do miss my drunkfests after hours with the owner, though. Good times.
