I could handle SoCal a lot better than today. The tube still does not have air conditioning and today was 30C and 80-90% humidity. Fvcking gross.

I do NOT miss the Tube or the humidity. I was back in CT the other week and I thought I would pass out from the temperature and 95% stickiness. I've gone all soft out here in SoCal.

London underground has the opposite problem to NYC subway - the tunnels are relatively cool but the trains are a sweatbox.

Yeah, I recall the feeling of the air being sucked out of the tunnel as trains pulled in and out to be quite refreshing. NYC stations are TERRIBLE. Of course in CT we are all chauffered around by our drivers in our air conditioned vehicles, and don't mix with the commoners.

Well apparently the NY subway is being renovated so that the stations will now be climate controlled.

With the olympics coming up in London, you'd think they do the same thing. Something tells me they won't - Britain can be rubbish sometimes

Ummm, it IS Britain we're talking about. Of course nothing will be done; much more satisfying to continue to be able to whinge about an inconvenience than to actually fix it. Couple that with the English Disease of masochism, and it's a recipe for non-action.

I also concur about the tube. However admit that, in my excitement to be back in London last month, I may have been filmed licking the side of the tube train in an erotic manner.

I find it hard to control myself at times.
