USCIS Case Status Question

Hello fellow VJers! I received my NOA1 a few weeks back and have a simple question regarding the "Last Update" or "Touch" as it's referred to. My packet was received on 6/17/2010 and the "Last Update/Touch" is dated 6/24/2010. I've been checking for the past week or so and still noticed the date has not changed. Just wondering if this is a good thing? I understand that this is in it's "Initial Review" stage. I guess I'm kinda worried that it's not being looked at.....but, I think I'm overreacting again....LOL! Thanks guys and good luck as always!

You are doing just fine.. Processing times vary, as the USCIS does not believe in a first in / first out system for their visas. I'm sure you are concerned because you see people in Vermont getting their NOA2's in 30 days or less. Well, it looks like the California Service Center has slowed down a bit to the normal processing times.. It's about 60-100 days (normally) at Vermont, which is what you should set your expectations for. Good luck, it will all be worth it and the times goes quick.

After NOA1, our package wasn't touched again until the NOA2 was approved, which was about 50 days later. We were one of the lucky fast ones though. If you signed up for email and text alert, you will get that as soon as something happens. I had to stop looking at the USCIS site because it was beginning to drive me crazy.

Good luck! And after you get NOA2 things really move fast, so you may want to get started on all the other requiremnets necessary.

The USCIS transfers work back and forth between the California Service Center (CSC) and the Vermont Service Center (VSC). When one of the service centers slows down too much, more work will be assigned to the other service center. My wife and I were lucky. When we sent in our K-1 packet to the CSC, it was just beginning to speed up. Before that, it was as slow as molasses in the wintertime. Now, I see that it has swung the other way. The VSC is the one that is churning out the K-1 approvals at lightening speed, and the CSC has slowed down considerably. Oh well, allow me to put in a word for you to the VSC....... :help:

Thanks again for the info as always. I know that this is the "high" time of year for petitions no matter the Service Center. Don't you love playing the waiting game...lol! I've waited 2 1/2 years for my fiancee, what's another 6 months....Thanks again!

Maybe you will still be one of the lucky ones who will get approved fast by the CSC. I sent my package to the CSC in early Feb. and I havent seen any activity at all until one night in April, when I got a text and email from the USCIS at around 10pm. It was close to 2 months after I sent in the petition and it was the USCIS telling me that my petition had been approved. So your petition could be touched one day, and get approved the next in a blink of an eye, so let's hope that there isnt so much volume on the petitions, and that you dont have to wait tooooo long to be with your fiancee again. Good Luck on your journey.

If you input your timeline dates into the tracking system on this site, it will give you an estimated approval time. My approval was actually one week faster than the estimate that visajourney.com gave me. And I did not have any updates---nada---between the NOA1 and NOA2--no touches even. So as hard as it may be, enter your dates, look at the estimate process date, and patiently wait. There is nothing more you can do, besides prepare yourself for the steps that will be required after you get your NOA2.

The waiting was the worst part for us. As bad as the waiting was, when it was finally over with, it almost seemed like it had never happened. But, when we were going through it, we both knew it would be worth it...and it is. Keep that in mind...it's worth it! :luv:
