I have posted facts. If you are ignorant of crime statistics then use some of that journalistic experience and go uncover the truth. The fact (again, a fact) that you don't know something is not my problem.

That's not a convincing argument. It just says that you are lazy.

And I need to have experience in the news media to be able to do that? I can't just be a halfway intelligent person? I have to have experience in a related field?

It helps to have an inside perspective. That's true of most things.

I'm not trying to make a convincing argument, I'm stating facts. You don't have to believe them, agree with me, anything. That's your choice. It doesn't change the facts.

Also, I'm not being lazy by refusing to post sources. This isn't a college paper, this is the internet. If you don't believe the facts I'm posting, do your own research in an attempt to discredit them.

It helps to have an inside perspective. That's true of most things.

But it's not necessary. For instance, I can read facts on the internet and not have any experience in the matter yet still understand that they're facts.

Opinion isn't fact.

I never said it was necessary. But it helps to have a practical perspective rather than an ideological one as you do.

Which is why I post facts.

You insinuated someone couldn't have an insight into something without experience. While it could be true in some instances, it is certainly not factual here.

I didn't say you couldn't have an insight without experience, only that there is a difference between a practical outlook and a purely ideological one. It isnt a question of fact, rather which opinion is more informed.

I didn't say you couldn't have an insight without experience, only that there is a difference between a practical outlook and a purely logical one. It isn't a question of fact, rather which opinion is more informed.

A more informed opinon has ZERO to do with the facts of a matter.

You're getting confused. The point was whether "positive" gun stories are downplayed or ignored for ideological reasons. I am saying that those stories are ignored because they aren't noteworthy.

Which is based on your "experienced" opinion, not on the factually-supported basis of bias and agenda in the news media.

I never said my opinion was fact.

No, but you insinuated the rest of us couldn't have a factual opinion because we had no first-hand insight into the process.

Noone can have a "factual" opinion without analysing specific stories or being party to the editorial decision making processes of individual outlets.

How about just repeating the facts? That would make someone's opinion factual, wouldn't it?

Why is there a need to analyse anything that actually happened? If it happened, it's a fact of reality. It is the application of the analytical process that leads to "opinion" in the media - not the facts!

That makes no sense.

No surprise as you're not one to agree with facts.
