So, we chose Dr Ambari in Bourgogne, Casablanca, because everyone seems to go with Khadija and we like to go against the norm to avoid crowds. SO made his appointment a week ahead of time for the 23rd at 9am. We arrived at the office a little after 9 and knocked on the door to find the receptionist looking like she'd been sleeping. The doctor was not there, apparently the receptionist had written him on the schedule for the 22nd.. so she had to call the doctor to come in, which was okay because we had to go the the lab, which was about 3 blocks away.

Went to the lab, and got somewhat butchered by the phlebotomist, who took one vial of blood (she blew his vein in the process, a good phlebotomist doesn't leave bruising on someone with decent veins), and was told by reception there that they would send the results over to the doctor's office by 12:30pm.

So, walked back to the doctor's office, and Dr. was there when we arrived. Experience with the doctor was good, he was a nice man and even managed to almost sneak the first vaccination in SO's arm without him realizing it (almost). Then got the referral for the radiograph, which was at a place downtown.

Took a cab downtown to the radiology clinic, which was so packed there were people sitting on the steps outside. Got an appointment card to return at 11:30am, so we walked around the block. Returned, and then sat in a super crowded outdoor waiting room for him to be called to have the x-ray taken. They took the x-ray and told him to return for it at 4pm.

Returned home

Went back downtown to the radiology clinic at 4pm and picked up the (tiny) chest x-ray, then took a cab back to Bourgogne to give it to the doctor. Discovered that the lab did indeed NOT send over the test results, so had to leave and walk up to get them, and return to the doctor's office to have the packet made for the consulate. Finally got home at 7pm with approved medical exam in hand. A NIGHTMARE.

Didn't mention the fact that when it came time to pay the doctor, the receptionist included the cost of the lab and radiography in the price she quoted us, so dumb us, we handed over the entire amount and then got to the lab and had to fork over more. When we returned to the doctor's office, the receptionist acted incredulous when we confronted her about pocketing the lab and x-ray money. Had to argue for 10 minutes to get it back from her, but finally did.

I recommend one of the other clinics.

That's interesting about the receptionist. I really liked the doctor, but when I read what you wrote about the receptionist I remember my husband had a tiff with the receptionist as well. It wasn't about money; I think it was about an important test result that we needed and she was kind of blowing it off. Or she told him on the phone she had it and when we got there she didn't have it and wasn't really in a rush to get it. Something like that. He threatened to tell the doctor about her lack of concern about what we needed, and she found it.

Squeaky - if it's the same lab we went to, were you sick of climbing steps!? The doctor's office, the lab, steps, steps, steps!

Thanks for sharing this information for us who are about to embark on this part of the journey. I will pass this info along to my husband. Do you remember how much they charged for the Doctor's visit and also the lab tests? We want to be prepared since they have already went up to $350 for the Visa application fee once he gets to the Embassy at his interview. Thanks so much for sharing!!

We paid 1350dh for the doctor, 150dh for the lab, and 40dh for the x-ray. But I would recommend you have him call to confirm the fees.
