Should it take this long?

We filed dcf in October in Calgary, and packet 3 was sent off to Montreal in February. Still havent heard anything yet. I emailed them on May 9th, and only got their automated reply, so I know they got the email. But no response from them. We are getting very discouraged about this whole thing. Shouldnt we have heard something by now, or is it really taking this long to get an interview? Do I send them another email? They say not to, but they won't answer my first email :(

There's a thread in the Canada forum called 'IR-1/CR-1 timeline to interview' or something like that started by trailmix I think... It might help you out to look at other people's timeline...

Don't worry to much though, Montreal is VERY slow with everything... There's probably nothing wrong with your file. We K1 filers had our P3 logged in in April/May and just got interview dates for August... That tells you right there how slow Montreal is...

Yea, unfortunately CR1 is around 3 months or so slower than K1 to get the interview, on the bright side once its done, you have your green card right away, where us K1'rs get to keep going through the wringer for ours.

They seem to be (finally) catching up with the IR1-CR1s - scheduled them for July, and now the K1s - scheduled for August. However they do not seem to be moving forward with DCF dates, I know there are a couple of us who submitted our DS-230 in February, March who are still waiting to hear.

I do plan on calling this week, though, as things do seem to be happening. ;)

Yes have a look at the Montreal timeline to interview thread here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/94768-ir1-cr1-montreal-timeline-to-interview/page__view__findpost__p__4013252

The last 2 people on there that have filed DCF, leonsgal and kimberlyk21, submitted their info to Montreal in March, they still haven't been scheduled for interviews. Currently the average wait time after completing the paperwork for DCF or finishing at NVC is around 3 months. Not sure why DCFers are having to wait longer currently - could well be because Montreal is very very slow to open their mail.

That said, you do seem to have been waiting a bit longer than usual, I would try emailing them again. Although, as you discovered, they also very rarely answer an email.

I filed for DCF in Vancouver in November, and returned the checklist and DS-230 in February also, and I haven't heard anything from Montreal either. I have emailed twice with no response (once about 5 weeks ago, then again last week). I can't find a telephone # to call them so I have pretty much just accepted they are way behind and I'll be lucky to hear anything before the end of the summer.

The NVC have no record of my application and told me it was being handled completely by Montreal.

I filed DCF in Toronto in January, sent back DS-230 in late March, haven't heard anything since. Called DOS today (because of all the dates/approvals floating around), but still no interview date set. :(

Husband is here visiting this week, so I'm hoping he's my good luck charm. :)

I don't really know/understand what the holdup is with DCF filers. :bonk:
