For the registering the marriage with the Philippines Embassy

Do we take this to the notary to have it done, or do we have to have it notarized at the Embassy in our state

and if notary is where we do it, it's asking for 4 original copies of the form, does that mean we have to pay the notary to notarize 4 copies at $10 each, that can be expensive plus all the passport photos they want.

anyone know how it's done

Hi Filipina Lover...we will eventually be going through the same thing as you guys...reporting our marriage to the Philippine Consulate. The San Francisco Consulate has jurisdiction over Washington State where we live, so we will be reporting there. We are planning to report in person as it will be a good excuse for us to visit SF again. We will likely have my wife's passport renewed at the same time.

If you notice on the bottom of the "Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad" form, there is a box which states: "Important: If applicant is unable to apply in person, this form shall be notarized." So, if you apply in person at the Consulate, you don't have to notarize.

From reading the reporting requirements listed on the SF Consulate's web site, it seems that all four copies are required to be notarized. If my wife and I decide to report our marriage by mail, we plan to have all four copies of the report notarized. Thankfully, our bank will do it for no charge.

One thing you might want to check out is whether the Consulate in your jurisdiction has different rules than the SF Consulate...you never know! Also, sometimes a Consulate will do an outreach, where they travel to different cities within their jurisdiction, making it more convenient for you to do business with them...check their web site.

PS...I think you would get a lot more responses if you posted this in the Philippines forum.
