We have been planning a trip to Amish country for a while now. So yesterday, we managed to gather almost everyone who wanted to go and we went. Sadly there isn’t much to do in Amish country except to buy excellently fresh produce. Now is not the time to pick anything. So, we ended up with a few boxes of zucchini and a few heads of lettuce. The Amish wouldn’t sell their blueberries or their sour cherries. They did let us eat a few. Amish people are super nice and very humble people.

One of my friends bought some onion and the Amish lady gave the onion inside polyurethane bag branded with Dollar General. So this friend mockingly said Amish country is Dollar General. I felt so ashamed for his behavior. I just veered off to the side and pretended like I don’t belong to this group of friends. I heard the lady explain that many people leave polyurethane bags and Amish people also shop at Dollar General. I just felt so ashamed that a minority group had to explain their way of life. It made me cringe. I didn’t say anything knowing my friend was just joking and he’s not a bad person. If I ever catch him doing something like that again, I’m going to Jethro-Gibbs-backslap-Dinozzo-from-NCIS him so hard that he can pick the Amish cherries without a ladder (no sexual puns were intended, intentionally.)

On our way back, we went fishing with a net. I caught a big paddlefish. Paddlefish are ugly and only a cannibalistic paddlefish mother could eat a paddlefish. It got a texture of rotten leather on a cheaply made sandal from China and it oozes more oil than a sleaze ball car salesman’s overly gelled hair. Then we went to watch Prince of Persia, which was an excellent movie for something which was adapted from videogame. I always like the PoP series of game. It was a fun filled day with friends. I had a great time. We can’t wait to do this next time in few months.
