Hi,

I'm trying to understand the timeframe for this process. Our I-130 just got approved (around May 6).

Does anyone know how quickly the NVC processes the payments for I-864 affidavits of support and then the affidavits themselves? Plus, the 230 materials?

Basically, how long until we can schedule the consulate interview? Generally speaking.

I stupidly thought this would be similar to the K-1 process we went through, which was about 8 months. (We ended up coming back to Africa for a job before applying for the green card so now we have to go through this nightmare again.)

This is far more elaborate, so I'm getting worried.

Thanks!

if u got approved on may 6th (so did my brother) i'm assuming, u gave 2 email addresses to the NVC operator and have ur case # as well. they'll email u the ds3032 (choice of agent), invoice number and also the I-864 bill to pay online. the bill will show as paid in like 1 or 2 days, print the cover sheet and mail in ur AOS documents.

now the IV bill will become available once the ds3032 is accepted (i received the bill a day b4 ds3032 was accepted)

the IV bill becomes available after the AOS bill most of the time. sometimes they both become available the same day.

in my case it was after 3 days and showed as paid the following 3 days.

the whole process takes about 3 months in max. but if u have everything ready beforehand then i dont see a reason that ur case will not b completed in like a month.

good luck!!!!

great, thanks! when you think about it, whey can't USCIS operate with this kind of efficiency? I'm guessing because that umbrella agency was formulated out of Bush-era paranoia, combined with the crappy corporate culture of the INS, while the State Dept. actually has some base of knowledge about other countries...
