Okay so my fiancee just got her packet and we're trying to figure everything out because we are in a rush. (The USCIS screwed up and delayed us for 2 months after getting approved...long story). I did the I134 and since I'm a college student, had my stepdad do one too. I felt it was allright until the packet came. There are instructions in Japanese and English but the content of the two is very different.

In English, there is this paragraph:

Affidavits of support should be of recent date when presented to the consular officer. They are unacceptable if more than one year has elapsed from the date of execution. The affidavit of support should be given to the applicant to present on the day of his/her visa interview. If you do not wish the person to see this affidavit, it may be sent directly to the Embassy/Consulate with a cover letter giving the applicant's full name, date and place of birth and case number.

Now I assume most of you can't read that but what it says is that in the case that the sponsor is married, have both the sponsor and spouse sign the form.

This isn't written anywhere in the English version, nor have I heard about it on this website. The form is only for one person so I don't even know where my mom would sign on my stepdad's form.

What do you think we should do?

(I've already sent my fiancee the I134s but we could do it again)

I think the Japanese language instructions are wrong. There are no provisions with any affidavit of support for more than one sponsor to sign the form. You might want to send an email to the consulate and ask them to clarify this.

BTW, the Japanese language instructions also make reference to corporate sponsors, which doesn't apply at all to K visas.
