No birth certificate for CR1 interview

So after 2 different attempts through Canada registry to get a copy of my Wifes birth certificate, it looks like we are going to the interview without one. She paid the fee and sent off for the first one about 4 weeks ago. It never arrived.

She then called Edmonton where they supposedly originate from and they sent another copy out late last week.. As of today it hasn't arrived either and our flight leaves Saturday.

She does have the wallet card but we were told she would need the long form. I emailed the consulate and they said to bring what she has but I am worried that this will delay everything until we can get the long form birth certificate to them. Has anyone gotten the CR1 visa without showing a long form birth cert?

I don't know, have never heard of anyone taking the short form, so I can't comment on that.

It's incredibly strange that registries hasn't got her birth certificate to her - it usually takes less than a week to receive it.

Well, I know for a fact that Alberta Registrys take their time. It took them a month to send me mine. I hope yours shows up soon. Good luck!!

I had mine from the Alberta registry within a week, and that was without requesting any sort of express service.

Yeah it really bites but not much we can do, we leave tomorrow. I guess we can always mail it back after the interview assuming Canada post can ever manage to deliver it.

If all else fails you will have to send it in after the interview. Your interviewing officer has the final say on that though, and there is no way to know until your interview.

Maybe by some stroke of luck it will arrive the day before you leave!! Crossing my fingers for you!
