I have got a letter from the consular saying our K1 petition has been approved. the letter contains link to the consular website and link for medical. but the link does not contain any instruction as to what form to fill, how to book for interview and how to book for medical test.

but the letter did say "once you have notified us that you have all your documents, we will schedule an appointment for your visa interview. "

1. do I need to call them to inform them, of this?

2. the documents required are not stated. thus what documents do I need to send?

3. what number do I call?

4. how about packet 3 (being mentioned alot ).

I also read that the letter ( the one I received from embassy) replaces packet No.3. is this true that I dont have to expect packet No.3?

please where do I go from here? with this pace, can I make getting the visa by June?

we got this approval about 3 weeks ago; has the approved petition any validity period?

thanks

Hi,

It would really help if you could complete your profile and let us know which embassy you are dealing with. Each embassy is different so in order to get accurate answers, I would suggest you do this asap.

We can't really answer any of your questions with confidence until we know a bit more information.

See Profile for full K-1 timeline...summary:

The approved I-129f petition carries a 4 month validity period. You can find the dates on the NOA2 you received from the USCIS.

As for the rest - please fill out your timeline and details as there is some differences on how things are processed at different consulates.

Below is a link to the London Website. On this page it will tell you the forms you need to complete and where to send them. I think there is also a link to a page where you can schedule you medical. We were through a different consulate but maybe this will help till some other London filers get you on the right track.

cool,

I have looked at the link, but this does not say if I need to wait for Packet 3.

it mentions I should fill the checklist and send to them.

how do I get the checklist?

even process on booking the medical exam is not on the web page

it seems pretty complicated

what is packet 3?

Careful - easy for your question to get lost in the midst of other posts - if the future you should start your own topic for new questions.

Anyhow - here is a very brief synopsis

NOA1 - Notification to the Petitioner from USCIC that the petition has been received

NOA2 - Notification to the Petitioner from USCIS that the petition has been approved

Packet 3 - Letter (packet) sent from Consulate to the beneficiary with instruction on how to apply for the visa and what to do next

Packet 4 - Letter (packet) sent from Consulate to beneficiary including interview appointment letter and instructions on what to compile and bring (also includes things needed from the petitioner (I-134 for example).

This is a general summary - not all consulates do it the exact same way. Some combine packet 3 & 4 together - some do via email rather that letter. Always best to post consulate specific questions in your regional forum to get better answers.
