Ok so I have been scouring the forums and I am still confused. My fiance and I have used a lawyer thus far as well as vj to help us but for everything from interview onawards we are on our own.

Ok so if I have this right this is what happens, please correct me if I am wrong:-

Visa granted

Arrive in USA

Apply for SSN

Get married

Get name on SSN changed

Apply of AOS

Have I missed anything?

Ok the thing that is confusing me is the EAD. Do I file this at the same time as the AOS or once the AOS is sucessfull am I eligible to work?

It is a good idea to file EAD at same time as AOS. The EAD process is usually quicker. But Yes a AOS approval is all you need to work or travel

Only describing how much you paid the lawyer for doing little!!! Sorry bad personal VJ joke.

You send in the EAD documents along with the AOS or GC documents. The EAD allows you to work without having the GC and comes sooner than the GC. Once you do get the GC, it trumps and takes the place of the EAD, plus does a lit more. So EAD is filed for if you want to work sooner than waiting for the GC.
