Hello Everyone,

I am new to the site and hope you all can help/advice me in which direction to go. My fiance is in Ethiopia and i want to bring him to the states as my fiance. I am US Citizen. Was thinking about getting a lawyer but people told me the paper work is easy and that i should save my money. Has anyone got a lawyer to help do the paper work and if so was it worth it? Or is it something that is easy and you can do yourself?

Thanks :D

Hi there,

Just my opinion and I am pretty sure,a lot here on VJ would agree.

If your case is simple, has no complicated MENA or waiver related bumps, then all you really need to get your fiance to the United States is Visa Journey

You can save a ton of money,VJ has a lot of resources and if you spend some intial time reading up the guides and all,man ,you are good to go!

But that is my opinion and wait for others to chip in.

Good luck to you

I think you will find that most of us here do not feel that a lawyer is necessary, unless you have some specific things that may need to be addressed that require legal advice. The paperwork is not that difficult once you read and understand it, however it can be confusing at times and most of us all had questions.

My suggestion would be that you go and read through the K-1 guide section here on VJ. Take some time and read everything very carefully. There is also a section with sample forms that you can look through to get an idea. For sure you will have questions, we all did and still do! Once you do some homework then start asking any specific questions and everyone will be glad to help. Just do some homework first.

Wishing you the best along your journey!
